Use Basic Smoothing for more advanced tablets, and Stabilizer is much like Paint Tool SAI’s. This is in the tool options docker of the freehand brush. Combine these with the shortcut sheet for Paint Tool SAI to get most of the functionality on familiar hotkeys. Krita 3.0 actually has a Paint Tool SAI-compatible input sheet shipped by default. Hide Selection, Reset Rotation are currently not available via the Toolbar configuration, you’ll need to use the shortcuts Ctrl + H and 5 to toggle these. (Though, on smaller screens this will cause all the things in the Brushes and Stuff Toolbar to hide inside a drop-down to the right, so you need to experiment a little). You can do the same for Redo, Deselect, Invert Selection, Zoom out, Zoom in, Reset zoom, Rotate left, Rotate right, Mirror view and perhaps Smoothing: basic and Smoothing: stabilizer to get nearly all the functionality of SAI’s top bar in Krita’s top bar. When done right, the Undo should now be sandwiched between the save and the gradient icon. There, toggle Hide text when toolbar shows action alongside icon to prevent the action from showing the text. Select the action to the right, and click Change text. Then select the action ‘undo freehand stroke’ and drag it to the right. Then, you can type in something in the left column to search for it. There are two toolbars, but we’ll add to the Main Toolbar. Go to Settings ‣ Configure Toolbars… menu item. You can also put these commands on the toolbar, so it’ll feel a little like SAI. You can use the Overview docker in Settings ‣ Dockers to quickly navigate over your image. Use the 1, 2 or 3 keys to reset the zoom, fit the zoom to page or fit the zoom to page width. You can use the + and - keys to zoom out and in, or use the Ctrl + shortcut. But you can also have more sophisticated rotation with the Shift + Space + drag or Shift + + drag shortcuts. There’s a couple of possibilities here: either the 4 and 6 keys, or the Ctrl + shortcuts for basic 15 degrees rotation left and right. Unlike SAI, these are tied to keyboard keys. Krita, just like SAI, allows you to flip, rotate and duplicate the view. This section goes over the functionalities that Krita and Paint Tool SAI share, but shows how they slightly differ.

That way you can paint zoomed in, but always see the update in the Navigator.Introduction to Krita coming from Paint Tool SAI ¶ How do you do that in Krita? ¶ So i just drag it to the second monitor and resize it to what ever I want. For some reason SAI allows the popups to move outside the program window. Open SAI and this will make the navigator window a popup. So probably something like whatever the resolution of that 22" monitor is. To the maximum resolution you want to adjust the navigator window to. Then under the Navigator section you change: Open misc.ini, under Panel Settings, you change: With SAI, you can't do what PS does, but I figured out a little trick.

That should let you drag windows back and forth across the screens. Under where it says "Multiple Displays" select Extend these displays. You should see the control panel with both screens side by side. In Win7 you right click on the desktop and select "Screen Resolution". I think SAI locks the documents within it's program window. I could never get the second document to move beyond Sai's program window. Hi Steve, I've tried to do this with Sai, but it doesn't work. I'd love some help if someone here knows how. This would be a very cool thing to be able to do.

Do I need a piece of software? How do I move things from one screen to the other? Can you even do this on a tablet pc? I don't need to generally work on the second monitor- I just need to move the duplicate image over to it and maximize it, then go back to working on my tablet pc like normal.

I'm at a kind of blank though about how to do this. My understanding is that Photoshop does something similar, but as I don't use PS I've never explored this option.

This would allow me to work zoomed in on my tablet, but simultaneously see the full composition at a different zoom level and a different resolution on my larger monitor- essentially allowing me to see what it will look like when it's printed as I draw. But something I was never able to do was to get the second monitor to run separately, but in tandem.Īs I've been using Paint Tool Sai, I've figured out that you can open an image you're working on twice, and the program will duplicate what you're doing on the second image. I got it to duplicate what I saw on my tablet screen, and I got the monitor to run at full resolution with my tablet pc blank (sort of like a simple wacom tablet). There's a thread somewhere around here for it. So, I've tried running my 22" monitor off of my tablet pc before.
